Six-Banyan Temple (六榕寺)
No. 87, Liurong Lu, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou.
Across the street, it used to be the home of the General (將軍府). Today, it is a hotel: Yingbin Hotel (廣東迎賓館). Built in 537 AD, the Temple of Six Banyan Trees welcomes you with 4 statues. This provincial cultural and historical heritage is one of the "top 4 buddhist temples" in Guangzhou. The Flower Pagoda burnt down in the early years of Song Dynasty. It was rebuilt in 1806. It took 11 years of completion.

Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall (中山纪念堂)
Born on November 12, 1866 in Zhongshan, Guangdong to a family of poor farmers, Sun Yat-Sen is known as the father of modern China. He played a major role in the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty. Then, he became the leader of Chinese Nationalist Party (Guomingtang). Sun Yat-Sen served as the first provional president of Republic of China and as de facto ruler. He died on March 12, 1925 in Beijing.
Yuexiu Park (越秀公园)
Right besides the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, it is the Yuexiu Park. It is one of the biggest park in the city. There is a small lake. While walking in the park, you will see some tombs once in a while. Apparently, it was a cemetery before. Prior to turning Guangzhou into a city, Yuexiu Park was a mountain where families bury their relatives. On one side of the park, a portion of the city wall remains there.
Five-Ram Statue (五羊塑像)
The famous Five-Ram Statue stands on the top of this park. It has a height of 11 meters. There is a legend saying that back in the Zhou Dynasty (1046 B.C. - 771 B.C.), 5 immortals (仙人) riding on rams descended to Chuting (楚庭), ancient name of Guangzhou. Each animal carried 6 strings of corn millet sprays in the mouth. The immortals gave the millet sprays to the locals expressing their good wish for no shortage of food. On their departure, the rams turned into stones. This monument symbolizes Guangzhou.
Guangzhou Metro (廣州地鐵)
Constructed in 1997, Guangzhou metro system has 8 lines. It was my first time taking the metro in Guangzhou.
