2013 - Panyu, Guangdong, China (I)

DAY 05  - September 13, 2013 – Meet the Pandas and the White Tigers

Panyu (番禺)
Panyu is my ancestral home. My first visit was at the age of 4. Although I do not recall it, I know that back in those days, it was only a big field. Today, my village is no longer a village. It is part of Guangzhou City. The metro is connected to Panyu. New roads are built allowing drivers to arrive faster. Although most of Panyu has been improved, there remain some parts which have not been developed yet.

Village
This morning, I visited my maternal grandfather’s younger brother at his home located at Panyu. There are lots of gates with the family name written on it.

Market
My uncle brought me to the market to buy some groceries for my great uncle.

Chimelong Zoo
If you would like to visit a zoo, Chimelong Zoo is highly recommended instead of the Guangzhou Zoo.
First, take the train tour. Then, walk around. Due to shortage of time, I selected the animals which I have never seen before: pandas, koalas, white tigers and Prairie dogs.

(Asian elephants have triangular ears.)

Karaoke
This evening, I went to karaoke with my family. In Guangzhou, most karaokes include a buffet. There is a bathroom in each room. This is one of my most memorable karaoke night!
